Sword Belt

Postby Blaccy » Sat Mar 06, 2010 9:51 pm

Half-assed idea, but since belts are currently a rather useless item right now, make it more useful by making a sword belt. A belt that obviously fits a single one-hand sword, and with a key, allows you to drop what you have on hand (into inventory or on the ground) and lets you draw it out.

Helps out inventory issues a little... and uh, that's about all I can think of it helping out with D: There's probably more, but I'm throwing this out there at random cause its gnawed on my mind a little.

Instead of a sword belt it should be a tool belt.

Give it 6 slots, 2 for tools (saw, sword, fishing pole, axe, etc) and 4 slots for keys.

Its logical and historically correct

Fair enough, but how do you put a fishing pole on your belt?
Surprise.

I suppose a scabbard is what I am looking for -- Perhaps a small change to the belt idea instead?

I just believe that the belt (as it stands) is currently useless. Allow something slottable there, so hooking a scabbard onto the belt lets you carry a sword, or hooking a toolkit lets you carry a certain tool (or two). But I don't think having an all-in-one belt that can carry a weapon, several tools, ect. would be viable, as then everyone will just go for that to save space. Should have some restriction, at least in my opinion, so people will have to decide what they prefer to use their belt for, whether its storing for weapons, tools, or stats. After all, a new belt can come out with stats like rings, but not be possible to put anything on it.

I had a similar idea to this earlier, perhaps pouches which you can add two to your belt (in equipment slots in the relative place, I suppose). Seedbags could be changed to this system but maybe a pouch which allows storage of other such small, common items like a strap for a bundle of sticks that can hold ten branches or something. Okay, that's technically not a pouch, but it would be handy if you hate having branches clogging your inventory. Or a crop bag, 8 slots for crop harvests only, etc etc this idea can be extended to a lot of different things.

Your idea could be incorporated into this one in the form of a 3x2-slot toolbelt "pouch" that can only hold hand equipment (tools, weapons)

I made this same suggestion a while ago, but nobody seemed to care.

Link for anyone who's interested.
