Giving Green/Black Tea Further Purpose

Postby Winterbrass » Mon Mar 08, 2010 2:02 am

As per the title.

Simply this:

Green tea regenerates more stamina the farther your slider is towards Nature, and Black Tea regenerates more stamina the farther your slider is towards Industry.

Base slider would be 75% of current regen from both types, with 5% added or subtracted based on the slider.

Full Nature would restore 100% of current regen from green tea, 50% current regen from black tea, and the reverse if you are full Industry.

(Or 100% at base, and 125% for going with the specialization and 75% for going against. Things to think about.)

That does sound interesting. Wouldn't be too jarring, either. What kind of interaction would it drive?
Surprise.

Well, the primary intent would be to give a purpose to actually making black tea. It was a thought that I had while transporting teastuffs to the mine to support the miners in my village.

A farming village would simply be able to harvest the tea and utilize the leaves immediately, but a larger village would have to wait for longer before the tea became truly useful - that would mean that it would be in the best interests of farming villages or hermits to let their tea sit so they could trade to larger villages who would need larger numbers of herbalists' tables to have truly effective tea.

It would save resources for larger villages to obtain their black tea from smaller settlements or hermits.

Lol right, leave the kind of tea which is harder to get to the already completely underpowered industry skill...

Sorry, I clearly forgot about the 2000 HP linen breastplates, the 200-soak wooden palisades, and the clay pickaxes. Whatever was I thinking?

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Any experienced player will agree with me here. Nature has tons of upsides while industry only needs a 200lp mining alt.

From my (perhaps too modern) perspective ALL tea is rather nature oriented. If you wanted a drink that was Industrial I'd recommend Coffee but its not rally appropriate for the setting or time period. Wikipedia says the black tea lasts longer then Green tea and has more caffeine. Some difference is certainly called for but I'm not sure if this is the best way, though it is at least making novel use of the belief slider.

The more I see these phrases used together, the more convinced I become that either one phrase or the other is the source of the problems we're experiencing establishing trade.

If something has yet to be implemented, the implementation of it cannot be the source of anything which exists at the moment.

Well, unless you're magical and have some way of violating causality.
