How to stop gatewalling.

One may only build walls within your claim, or else within the territory of your village.

Problem: done.

Oh yes, it's definitely been suggested. Just reminding.

Actually. That's not entirely true. The real problem is that no matter how big your claim over your walls is. Some faggot can still come in and build a wall all the way around your shit.

There ARE however ways to make things more difficult for them.

1) Claim your entire section and at least several tiles beyond.

2) At each gate corner post, build a log cabin so that it is impossible for them, even with vandalism, to cheaply extend your gate. Make entirely certain that you can move between the post and the cabin but that a pallisade can't be built there. (Hint: Place the construction off grid with Shift)

I don't think you quite understand; anyone besides you can't expand your walls. They would have to build an entire new corner-post first, but this would keep them held up a bit longer.

Vandalism allows you to build shit on other people's claims.

Congratulations, you have the reading comprehension of a preschooler.

For readers other than Chak, I think you see my point: You can't build any walls anywhere, including on other people's claims (astounding as that may be), except within your claim or towns.

i dont see a downside to this yet

most people ive seen only go through the trouble of building walls on claims

What if, pre-village, you wanted help with building your walls from another player?

Or you could just make it so you can't build on someone else's claim with vandalism

Having them in your party would allow them to, or heck just being a Kin allowed onto claims with Tress, Theft and Vandel on it all. I love the idea of this, seeing as with Brodgar the only Walls we have is on Claimed ground, Fences and stuff though should be allowed anywhere...
