Looms give too many LPs

Postby Xilliah » Sun Mar 14, 2010 2:07 am

Hello,

There are unfinished looms everywhere. I am now constructing my own and they give so incredibly much LP it is totally unbalanced! It gave me about 2500 LP at a learning rate of 300%. For one loom.

Yeah thats true looms give way to much LP
i guess everybody using them for LP has to admit that xD (though using it alone might be admittance enough)
though i usually destroy everything and dont leave any trash signs in the wild

Hey mister, heres a lesson. Every object gives the same amount of lp per time. No matter if its looms, mansions or simply fires. Looms just take long to build, so you can go afk for 2 minutes and then restart a new one. Your suggestion is pure fail and shows lack of experience.

If you stop posting we calm down. All of your 20 posts were awful and made my mind bleed.
A bit of research by using the search function would have made ALL of your posts redundant.

The main issue seems to be that you can put 15 branches in a Loom, hit build and get wayyyy more LP then building a wicker basket and a campfire. People seem to be grinding them because now their the most efficient way to convert branches into LP and branches are now quite limited. Not to mention the time spent walking and collecting the branches is a significant overhead for the wicker/campfire but insignificant for the Loom thus making the loom more time efficient regardless of any equal LP per second of build time issue.

While the Loop could easily use some Rodney King treatment with the nerf bat I'm sure something else will emerge as the 'new' loom (perhaps the new Rams for instance). A major flaw in the build system is that allows any significant LP gain from partially building something when only one type of required material is present. If you had to at least get all the blocks, boards and string together it wouldn't be so cheesy. Perhaps if building had to consume the materials in a more 'even' manor rather then all of one material and none of another. Or if LP gain starts small and escalates near the end of completion so again you need to get at least remotely close to finishing a loom rather then a pile of sticks. The harshest solution is to simply impose the 'clay-cap' and not give any LP after some arbitrary amount is earned and I'm not sure I really for that, though some kind of decay rate might work, LP would always be gained but it would gradually get lower and not be a good for grinding.

Or you make it more time consuming. For example, the loom is a machine and might be build out of parts. The parts must be crafted first. The parts could be used for any machine. And some parts would require multiple resources, so just using wood would never work.
