Redesign of Seedbags and Crop Storage...

Postby Nanothnir » Wed Mar 17, 2010 8:04 am

Apparently people don't like them.
Some avoid using them.
Some don't even know that they exist.

I on the other hand think that they are useful in their current, limited, state. With harvesting and planting, without worrying about sorting or anything like that they are useful cause they increase the storage space from 24 to 216 for the simple seeds such as Hemp, Flax and Wheat. Which we all know we get a lot of from our work with these main crops...

The Use of the Mousewheel + Shift to move the seeds to and from the bags to storage for sorting is useful to, especially if you move them back while holding Ctrl + Shift + Mousewheel (try it if you never have, thanks me later).

But the use is limited there for just moving them back and forth from Storage to Bag, what about to other things, such as the Table for the Wheat (Germinating them for Beermaking), by having multiple bags open at once, why can't we just roll the mousewheel while having the table open and the BEST of all the bags go onto the table...

Having the all the bags open at once is also nice (though they stack on top of each other and you need to move each separate window), Just by doing so, can we not move them from all Bags at once instead of going bag by bag??? (Then again I could be just doing it wrong with this part)

Complaining about bigger storage is not the issue, 216 seeds covers a good sized plot, heck I still had around half my Inv of FULL bags after planting 100sqares 216 squares is already a LARGE Plot to begin with...

Then there are the NON Seed Crops. What about Baskets? Thinking bout Harvest Moon style Baskets, you hold them over head while harvesting and the crops go into the basket if its a Non-Seed Crop. Easy Transfer and stuff to by right clicking on a Cupboard or something Else (Storage Crate perhaps???) and the Basket's Contents get dumped in for Sorting and stuff...

I don't know really, just been thinking about it while sorting out the Seeds needing to go onto my Tables. Thought I would see what others think...

EDIT: Just ate some Pumpkin, Why can't the seeds go into a bag if you have some in Inv when you carve a Pumpkin? Its not that hard to do is it???

I would very much like to see seedbags being a bit larger. How big is a seed? :D Getting 3 seeds at a time they fill up pretty fast and it'd be nice to not have to carry around 10 of them...

And we are back to another 'OMG MAKE SEEBAG BIGGER PLZ!!!!!!!?!!!11!1'......

Sigh, shall I go change the Title then. WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER THINGS!!!!
Can't you think that the amount of Seeds that you GET from a Harvest count as a Lot, I mean come on, Thats 1 tile of Crop that makes 3 Seed "ITEMS" At harvest. Not using our Imagination and stuff, 1 tile could be 1 Square Meter, which means that you need to plant a good amount of Seed itself to fill that much dirt with growable plants. SO IN OTHERWORDS 1 Seed "ITEM" is actually a good HANDFUL of seeds. Maybe even more, SO 9 Handfuls in a Bag that Fill 1 ITEM slot, is fine...

There are tons of those seedbag bigger Ideas, go bump them...

Sorry, but Make Seedbags bigger has been suggested 100s of times now. I posted this idea to talk about OTHER things to make seedbags usable, and the first 2 posts are for something that is not even talked about in the OP. Like I said, go bump those threads please...

i agree with you nano. i think a redesign of the seed bags would be a good thing. and they don't need to be bigger! they are big enough already, they just need better mechanics for sorting and storage. and a way to auto pick-up the straw and fibre would be awesome!

That's brilliant. I was going to suggest a toggle for such products to be automatically discarded (Hemp/wheat) or kept along with seeds (poppies) but this....I do love this idea so very much better

Actually 1 tile IS 1 Square Meter and i guess you get more than a handfull of seeds from one Square Meter so yeah 9 spaces inside a seedbag already is pretty big.
