Improve pines

They take longer than firs to grow, give next to zero branches, and no boughs. They're inferior to firs in every way. I suggest to make pines grow as fast as firs, so they're *the* tree for making large quantities of lumber.

I agree.

They give 3 logs when cut instead of two.

I know that. But you get less logs per day planting pines rather than firs, since they grow slower (twice as slow, by my guesstimate).

Would be a bitch to grow in walled compounds.

Even if they give 4-5 logs firs are still better because they will have double the q...

well pine is a shitty wood anyway! realism!

but seriously, what about oak and maple then as well? i don't know the exact growth rates (and lets not forget the last stage is dependent on a decay hit coming at some random time). it does seem reasonable for the 3 log trees to have a growth time 1.5x that of a 2 log tree i suppose, but i don't think they should have the same growth rate.

edit:

well this isn't quite accurate. yes, your pines would probably be a bit lower q, but don't forget the seed is only part of the equation. you would still have to consider the pot, the soil, the water, and the herb table.

They have branches going for them. Yeah, I don't think it's worth it either (mostly because q decrease from picking is stupid and needs to die), but at least it's something. Pines got nothing.

I plant pines because I only play on weekends. I put out eight pines or eight firs, either way, I get them all grown up by the end of the week.
Surprise.
