Obvious use for current plant

OK.

We can grow hemp? And gaze upon its ripe red-touched buds.

Can we not craft clay or metal pipes and um... properly use our hemp ... :|

Just saying.

Suggested a million times. In depth. With pages of discussion.

And hemp is not weed, only related. Smoking hemp will allow you to enjoy the effects of smoke inhalation and nothing else.

Both plants are part of the cannabis genus and both can be called hemp. Some hemp is marijuana and all marijuana is hemp but not all hemp is marijuana. But in many cases the hemp that produces good fibers is not very psychoactive, so there's still some truth there.

to be precise:

breeding since circa 1930 has focused quite specifically on producing strains which would perform very poorly as sources of drug material. Hemp grown for fibre is planted closely, resulting in tall, slender plants with long fibers. Ideally, according to Britain's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the herb should be harvested before it flowers. This early cropping is done because fibre quality declines if flowering is allowed and, incidentally, this cropping also pre-empts the herb's maturity as a potential source of drug material. However, in these strains of industrial hemp the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content would have been very low regardless.

So give it an extra maturity stage, like carrots. Once it turns red-haired, it is no longer good for fiber and drops flowering buds. ?

Then people will stick to flax for their fiber needs, and hemp for.... what COULD it do when smoked?

I think a temporary boost to Psyche but a temporary drain on Perception. (but that is sure to draw debate)
*and a happy hearthling smile*

Or maybe it would Consume the Flames with no HP damage? eh? eh?

I'd just leave it as is, as one big cock-tease to stoners. Until they learn to take my fast food order correctly, anyway.
