Crossroads

I've been thinking, one of the main reasons that there's very little trade in this game is because it lacks a trading hub that everyone can access. In short, no-one trades because no-one knows where anyone else is, and even if you do find someone there's no guarantee that they'll have what you want or want what you have. Therefor I propose the creation of a trading hub, lets call it "The Crossroads". The Crossroads would exist on it's own map without any links to the normal map, but you could instantly travel there from any location and then return to where you left once you leave. This would mean that anybody could instantly pop into the crossroads, trade your goods then return and get back to work, and because everybody would have access to the crossroads, finding a trade would be almost guaranteed.

I agree, however this wouldn't let you teleport, as the crossroads wouldn't be connected to any area and you would return to exactly where you left.

so...your saying this isn't a teleport suggestion? you just instantly appear in some mysterious realm, and then go right back to where you where when you are done? your right, totally not teleportation

Just the other day I was thinking to myself: "What this game really needs is interdimentional travel . . ."

Yes this is generally too destructive to the sense of space in the game world, also your premise that no one trades is wrong, regional (defined as within the grid river systems) is alive and well and continuing to grow. It is mostly restricted to village-2-village trading as generally only villages have the quality and quantity to make trading worth the considerable 'transaction cost' which if you remember micro-economics is the resource that must be expended to execute a trade. Marginal transaction costs for us are mostly haggling and some boat-ride time or wine to burn off travel weariness but the overhead costs of finding the trading partners is Big, both costs are in the form of the one ultimate resource player-input-time. These costs stay relatively flat as trade value/volume increases so small players are effectively priced out of commerce itself, your proposal radically reduces the transaction cost which would make commerce worthwhile to virtually all players, and if trade was the one and only point of the game that might be good. But I think most people feel that trade should be a kind of 'end-game' and act in a supporting role to 'survival' which is the over-arching meaning of the game.

You have a point, but there's a problem with trading being a endgame only affair, everyone is forced to generalize, as without trading you have to create everything you need yourself, preventing specialization.

I'd much rather see a tradeship in the middle of my lake thats only shows up once ever other day or w/e in day time.
The ship you must buy stuff from~~
let me explain why buy before i keep going, the player wont be there the ship will be a bot. the bot ship will ask for a small fee for the items you place up or w/e and you only may put up like 2 kinds of items with as many as you want of them...
~~so this will keep trade going case of how hard it is to make money and might make people a little more happy to get there stuff out there.

I whould love it maps came my way via boat so i can fine where the heck i am and where ever one else was....

BUT that is my idea to your idea.
i understand newbie wont be able to able to get at the boat for a while but hay, newbie also cant make money like a good amount of us, lol
if the dev added this in this will be one of the things to shut us up really lol
WARNING! MY ENGISH SUCKS.
