Disable charter stone start

Postby VowOfSilence » Tue Mar 30, 2010 5:13 pm

i just checked out the new "starter" cities, and had a pretty bad flashback to when i played HH for the first time.

All 3 cities are once again either mostly abandoned or barricaded and are utterly confusing for newbies. Had to help a few out, asking the same questions i was asking back then:
"What do i do now?", "How do i get out of here?", "Where is everyone?", "How can i pick stuff up", "Does this game suck or what?"

Seriously, just disable charter stone start. The first impression couldn't be any worse than that. Imo it's much easier to figure out the game when using wilderness spawn and learning things step by step on your own.

Btw, can i somehow teleport to charter stones once i've found them with my wilderness character, similar to the Brodgar teleport in the 2nd world?

I think charterstones are necessary but to prevent noobs being born in abandoned places, maybe they should decay?

Because once upon a time there were villages that wanted completely random people joining their cities.
Having a big veiny stone phallus for them to spawn at is more aesthetically pleasing than a small pile of wood.

Many players start without checking forums, and even players who look on the forums do not seem to read "WE HAVE A VILLAGE COME AND JOIN IT" before posting their LFG threads.

I think the solution is probably village management more than anything and I thought I read they're working on that RIGHT NOW
