Snow Terrain

I love snow areas in games and this is my idea for one in Haven & Hearth

The looks:
The ground would obviously be white with maybe a leaf of grass or pebble poking out every now and again. It’d have fir trees and boulders.

The ground:
Since this is a snow area, when you dig, you will dig up snow chunks. Which will have a quality similar to how soils quality works. After so many digs in a certain spot it'd run out of snow and turn to forest floor. If you just want the snow out of the way you can plow it in one go or if you light a fire the snow in that space will immediately be gone. As this is an area that snows, the forest floor/plowed area will turn back to snow in a few in game hours.

Snow chunks:
While raw you can use them like gauzes on people except it will throw it at them from a distance. Yes, snowball fights! You would also be able to melt the snow down in a cauldron or something for water. The water quality would be related with the snow you melted it down from.

Recipes:
Ice Cream - Milk, snow
Ice Cubes - for iced tea instead of hot
Blueberry Popsicle/snow cones - Stick, blueberry, snow

Buildings:
Ice Fishing Shack - Dowsing rods will not find wells in this terrain but instead find water holes used for ice fishing shacks.
Igloos - some kind of house thingy, idk lol

Terrain effect:
Since a snowy area is cold there will be an effect similar to leeches while standing in this terrain. Except instead of leeches attaching to unclothed slots it will be frostbite! To get rid of frostbite you will need to drink a hot beverage like tea or put an item of clothing on the frostbitten area. Perhaps even just cutting it off with a sharp tool.

Just some basic ideas I had. I think it’d fit well into this game and be amazingly fun!

I like the general concept of the idea, though I recall loftar mentioning he would like to have real climate zones. In my opinion that would be nicer than just having another random terrain type with snow. Guess we will have to wait quite some time for those climate zones though, because really huge changes would be required and there are other things on top of the devs agenda.

Seems like a pretty good idea, but then people would just be using the snow chunks to patch themselves up rather quickly.

Maybe it should only snow when it's snowing in real life?
I like apple juice.

Given this is an international, online game, that would be... all the time then?

I agree. Climate > random snow areas. Especially if you could basically stand on a perfectly distinct border between dry, hot grasslands and snow.

When he said use it like gauze, I think he meant right click on people while holding it to throw it at them. At least I hope so, since I can think of no logical reason why being pelted by a snowball would be beneficial to your health.

That's exactly what I meant.

I was wanting to retexture H&H into a snow mess, but it takes too long...
