Why can't we loot dead bodies?

You murder someone, their inventory is lost forever? Why? Not that I would know about that, of course :)

You know what... I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT. We kill a person and all that trouble was just to permanently kill him? Lame. When your opponent dies his whole inventory should drop to the ground.

Either that or a "loot" option. It would be especially annoying if they're holding the master keys to all their palisade gates.

I do recall an exception though, In the last world when I (as a newb) killed myself with leaches and then shortly their after inherited a new character I was able to loot my ancestors body with the fresh new character.
