Idea on how to fix boat-wall-jumping

Postby Killface » Sun Apr 04, 2010 2:21 am

Exiting a boat near a wall will throw u over the wall. Ridiculous bug allowing all the work put into balancing walls to be tossed out the window. Ask Onionfighter.

Add an collision check?
Or perhaps remove the 'Leave" radial all together and allow the boat to be "lifted" once inside it, dropping you in the exact spot u were piloting from, in shallows.
Or do the same thing when one chooses "Leave" to exit. No character location shift, just place the boat above ones head and ones feet firmly in the shallows where their seated selves had previously been.

Please.

I don't know about this. Suppose there was a passenger?

What if the collision box was made smaller instead, so leaving the boat just dropped you off in the water?

How about when you click leave, you stand rather than sit and walk out?
This would also solve the 'You need swimming to cross water' problem.

this is pretty good but it would require some work with the hitbox but i'm sure it would be possible to make it non-colliding for a minute or something

I agree, it's an interesting idea. Something like leaving a bed or a hearthfire.

Don't lie, you had no complaints when using this bug to kill kLauE.

Sounds odd, really. Not as odd as jumping over a wall, but suddenly being underneath the boat you were just rowing sounds disastrous.

Maybe you should think before writing.

1. Right click boat, select "stand up" or "leave" or "disembark"

2. Character stands up, and you can then walk out of it, like getting up from a chair.
Come back two hours earlier.

Makes sense to me. Also it'd be nice if we could "jump" into and out of boats, to avoid having to perfectly position the boat so that you're not still in deep water. Maybe jump 1 square or so of deep water between the boat and ground, that would be enough.

Also another thing which would completely remove the deep water problem in villages, would be the ability to create a short dock on the shoreline.
