Would it be too much to ask for tables? I intend to create a teahouse someday, with inn, and it would be quite embaressing to have only shaics but with no tables to dine on like civilized individuals. Thus, this is my proposal.
There would be two kinds of table, the one that takes up one tile of space works like a cart. It could be shared among three people at the most, but with a chair one tile next to it. The person must be seated in order to activate the table and the flower option would be an automatic ritual of tea and snacks with friends. Instead of a sand clock for the process, we would have a simple animation of conversation bubbles between people and tea and cakes being partaken of.
The next table would be take up four tiles of space and could accommodate eight people who are seated at its sides, with the chairs set a tile next to the table. The people must be seated in order to activate the table. The ritual would then be a meal with friends, and with animation being played of people eating from plates with forks.
The look and quality of the tables should be of a variety chosen by the developers themselves. They could set recipes of certain designs of tables with specific kinds of wood and even with some need for metal ornament. The coffee and dinner tables must be liftable.
These tables could also act like carts, in that you could store items on them, and if the items are ornamental, the sprite changes to accommodate the ornament, like flowers on vases and such.
