Nationality Flags

Postby Springare » Wed Apr 14, 2010 8:02 am

Hi, been looking around the forum and found that there is a lot of problems whit different languages and such. So jut thought of an idea, how about if you could be able to build a flag pole in-game and be able to attach a flag from your nationality (that you of course also craft by yourself).

This would make it easier to determine if you can speak you native language to the people in that settlement or if u need to go international on them. ^^

any thoughts?

It wouldn't be a bad idea if it wasn't for the racism in this game.

So the potential for offensive expression means we should limit all expression?

Damn those racist flags...

On more serious note, I think we could use more ways to identify yourself as a part of specific village, empire - whatever. But I dont think we 'ought to draw those sigils from "real life" national symbols, but rather create new ones.

Now can I have a cape with a swastika?

well you could simple create Non Existents flags, that could symbolize the actitude of that village. (Trade village-warriors-farmers-and something other to have much pictures)
And also something that REMEMBER a national flag but isnt a national flag, if we want.

If the flag aren't racist, how could one use a racist flag, afterall?

(But the national flags, actually, arent so racist. The only one that might be racist is the svastica, but isn't used anymore so Why create a svastica flag for the game, when is useless?)

Actually the natzis stole the swastika from the buddhists, it was originally a budhist prayer wheel.

More like killing anyone in the game that is of a certain nationality or not of.

They inverted it though, right?

On topic: I would love to have a union jack in the middle of my land, but I can see it quickly becoming a defining factor is race separation, which is far more common and nothing to do with racism, particularly in large villages where there might be different nationalities. I don't think we should incorporate our real life nationality into a game that is, essentially, a virtual nation. After all, while we place this, we're all hearthlings.

It doesn't take long to ascertain whether or not they speak your language, you just need to say something to them :)

EDIT: I made 'race separation' up. I basically mean that while racism isn't an issue (one would hope so, at least), pride most certainly will be.

Some people are just naturally nice. I should know, I have two of them rotting under my bed.
