Metal Axe!

Postby bakoryo » Tue Apr 20, 2010 4:36 pm

So while i was cutting around with my lovely low quality stone axe i remembered A tale in the desert and their lovely metal axe how easy it was to get wood with it. so i figured, why has none thought about it before and why isn't it in?

It would work as the metal saw basically, it takes one piece of wrought iron/steel (not bronze as bronze is a weak metal which would bend durr)
So you would get more blocks, faster cutting and more sanity left when removing those pesky roots! Also the quality of the axe would affect the quality outcome.

So what do you guys think?

Sorry for grammars, random jibberish and such.

Faster cutting would lead to more clearcut areas since it would speed up LP grinders.

More blocks are debateable.

Quality of axe influencing the quality of the blocks is hard, would only make sense to have it as a hardcap (can't get blocks better than q of axe), but that would penalize players without access to metal (or a source of q>10 stones).

More sanity after removing the roots would be a definitive plus, it takes way to long to remove a stump.
Better would be quicker removal but higher stamina drain (but not to high, so that a newbie is still able to remove treestumps).

If I'm not mistaken metal axes are already in the game. you just need steel working, and steel. So wouldn't it be more appropriate for you to change it to iron or bronze axes?

I just though more blocks due to "finer" cuts considering you have a much more appropiate axe :p

And i agree about an axe serving as a hardcap instead of just pushing up the quality. That makes more sense.

Well, i thought that if you would have the tree's still cut down at the same pace but just the roots faster it would still make the deforestation from some the same. It would just ease up the annoyance of removing stumps in general.

@bgfan you mean the axe of the 12th bay? Rather funky to run around with a 2-handed battleaxe and swing it at trees no? :p
