Combat skills caps

Postby Pixel » Mon Apr 26, 2010 4:03 pm

Reading this thread i was surprised how few crazy griefers could kill entire town. I think it's not right that some players can become almost halfgods. At least it's not realistic. Skill cap can solve this problem. In that thread someone proposed to entirely get rid of points for combat skills, but i think it's not right. Because griefers will be creating one character after another resulting in non-stoppable waves of attacks. Setting skill cap reasonably high will get rid of those waves but will make characters chance of winning fight equal.
So, what do you think?

the reason why people can kill whole towns is that most people don't have combat skills.

the reason people kill towns is because of lack of skill cap. some can destroy walls by themselves you know.

There should be a skill cap on everything since in the end other skills relate to higher q items making a character stronger either way.

Or you could not cap levels and just make it so walls are more resistant to single player attacks, maybe capping damage done to walls by a single player.

Well then, how's that any different from capping skills?

This.

So you can still be able to deal damage that scales with your levels in pvp and pve. Walls would just be exempt and have a maximum amount of damage they can take per player, other players and animals wouldn't have a maximum amount of damage they can receive.

Oh i see where I've gone wrong here! For some reason I thought we were talking about walls and buildings.

Alllow me to start again :D

You are absolutely right!
But there is also the other issue of those who have started much later having no chance whatsoever of catching up with the older players
in a non-capped world.

Putting a skill cap on fucking everything would ruin the game, don't wanna die? Get your freaking combat skills up and stop hiding in your cellar like a fucking sissy and fight back.
