Concerns about horses

Postby Onionfighter » Wed Apr 28, 2010 3:16 pm

Currently it is just about impossible to kill someone who is on a boat, even when you outnumber them, and are stronger. I am worried that if horses are introduced, this difficulty will be available on land as well.

Perhaps horses should allow maximum possible speed without as much stamina loss, and taking damage while on a horse makes you fall off.

That is what I thought. I don't have much experience with the new combat system though, maybe onion could elaborate a bit on this.

Boat killing used to be easy because once someone started destroying a boat, there wasn't much the other person could do to stop it. That has been fixed, and as soon as the person moves, the destruction stops (this is a good fix). The problem is, it is now nearly impossible to kill someone who is moving in a boat. You cannot destroy their boat, you cannot attack with melee, and marksmanship takes way too long. I am worried about something like this happening on land.

Rowing should cost stamina.

Hm I know you love to torture us, but is it really necessary to make rowing so much more painful for everyone just for the ocassional boatfight?

It should cost stamina simply because that is reasonable, regardless of fighting. I hate it that I don't even become slightly hungry even if I row supergrid after supergrid. Feels like a waste of time. Hunger is fundamentally good, remember?

Right way to go IMO. It should be far from real exhaustion tho, allowing unnoticeable drain on region scale travel.
