A UN Funded Appeal: Improve the quality of life for Vintners

Postby RayvenQ » Fri Apr 30, 2010 2:00 am

This is a sponsored appeal to raise the awareness of Hearthean Vintners everywhere. Everyday, Vintners everywhere suffer great depredation and suffering. Every day, after working hard in their fields, Vitners come home to be greeted by sour wine, Insuffiecent space due to poor quality storage options. With your help we can improve the livelyhood of vitners everywhere, so please, give two thoughts a day for those poor Vintners.

How winemaking could be improved.

1. Storage: Allow us to construct proper wine barrels, that can be used to actually store Wine without it going off, this could be accomplished a few different ways.

Wine Casks - These can be used to store Wine and only wine in, that also stops it from turning into vinegar. This would cost the same in material as a Wine Barrel, but with an extra requirement, one or two bone glues.
Seal Wine Barrels - They are called wine barrels, so let us seal them with bone glue and allow us to actually store wine in more than a short term capacity.

2. Vinegar - We can take wine out of barrels with buckets, so why can't we do the same with vinegar? is it so potent that it eats through wood (in which case, how's the barrel staying intact) Some of you may not think it's a problem, but trust me, when you have your best barrel filled with 100L of wine, and, for whatever reason, you can't get back on or simply don't get back on or even simply forget, unless you can afford to destory your current barrel and replace it with one of a similar or better quality, it's damned hard work, you need to empty it with piddly 0.6L wine bottles 167 times.

So please, Jorb and Loftar, think how you can improve the quality of life for Vintners!

Seems like a good reasonable idea! I certainly wouldn't want my wine to turn into vinegar.
I like apple juice.

Make beer if you don't like your wine going sour. It's not for nothing that beer is such a pain in the ass to brew compared to wine.

Except you should be able to store a fair bit of wine without the extreme of filling cupboards with buckets of wine
