metal hand axe

Its nice that there are many metal tools that make life easier by upgradeing the efficiency of a task such as the metal plow, pickaxe in regards to chipping stones and the scythe for harvesting. Having recently decided to start some wholesale logging to fill my nice sexy new wagon I though that a metal hand-axe would go nicely. Would love it if it could halve the time it takes to cut a tree down. not sure what the big arse bay-12 does in regards to logging but it is not practical. A simple hand tool would suit me fine.

I tried to seacrh the forum if this has been proposed before but metal is far to common with all these "hurr, need more mines" threads and 'axe' apparently is too common a word and won't even let me search it. Either way, the point stands. This is a useful tool, and not entirerly unreasonable considering the other tools that fall into the same category. Would love to hear opinions.

Better be careful.. Don't cut down too many trees. There's talk of implementing territorial punching tree men.

Well, its not so much the trees themselves. its removing the stumps afterwards. Apart from looking ugly as hell its the difficulty in driving the wagon around them. Problem is, stumps take a long long time to remove. I've used both metal and a homemade stone axe before. Efficiency difference is off the charts. If you wanted to be realistic in the time improvement then the tree should fall down in one chop compared to the 10 or so chops currently from the stone axe.

IMHO: Metal hand axe should have the upside of being able to remove stumps faster (halve time), chopping time for trees and making blocks could stay the same.

A metal axe for faster stump removal would be great. Maybe it could also give more blocks from a stump?

Nah, what do you want with all that q10 blocks anyway?

But it could improve stone chipping speed to something between stone axe and pickaxe (to solve [X] this request while at it).

heh, to solve my other request? I don't think a metal axe should be used to chip stones. Not a good idea for the poor axe.
