Injury and healing.

I have noticed several problems with the current damage system:

1) If you are knocked out you simply get back up, without any kind of injury other than the damage you've already taken.

2) The only real way to heal HHP damage is with a gauze.

3) Gauze heals at a ludicrous rate.
Here are my proposed solutions:

A) Whenever you're knocked out you get a one of the following debuffs:
Fractured Arm: Everything takes 25% longer and you cannot carry anything or equip anything to your left arm.

Broken Leg: You cannot move at any pace higher than crawling, if you equip a crutch you can move at normal speed as well but not running or sprinting.

Infected Gash: You take 50% more damage from attacks.

Concusion: All your skills are reduced by 5.
These debuffs dissapear after 56 hours. (one ingame week)

B) Every 8 hours you spend sleeping restores one HHP, as well as decreasing the amout of time till knockout debuffs dssapear by 2 hours for every hour spent sleeping. In addition you should be able to use a needle and silk threads to stitch up a wound, this does not heal instantly, instead it converts HHP damage to SHP damage at a 1:2 rate, consuming a silk thread for every 5 HHP restored.

C) Instead of healing damage constantly gauze doubles the amount of HHP you regain whie sleeping. While wearing gauze debuffs from being knocked out disapear in half the amount of time.

Hm.. interesting.. those types of injuries could give more use to the First Aid skill and maybe even more. Craftable crutches and splints come to mind.

So, wearing gauze AND sleeping removes 4 hours of debuff for every hour of sleeping?

Also, do all these debuffs happen at once? Do they happen often? Are some more common than others? Can you have multiple debuffs at a time? What is your proposed chance? Will they all happen at the same chance? Can my broken leg get broken twice? If yes, does it add a new debuff or does it reset the other one? Explain some of the details of your proposed system.

Just so you know, I don't like this idea very much unless it is quite rare OR limited to certain conditions. ie. If a leech causes me to become unconcious I do not want to wake up with 4 broken limbs,a concussion and a sad realization that I have pooped myself.

Thank you for pointing these things out. Pretty much all of them were things I swore I had explained, but apperently I forgot.

First off, yes, if you are sleeping with a bandage on every hour counts as 4 for the purpose of determining when the debuffs end.

Second, yes and no, you should be able to get multiple debuffs at once, but not multiples of the same type. (after all, if both legs broke you'd be completely immobile)

Third, doh! I forgot to mention you can only get injury debuffs from being knocked out in combat, thorns in the foot shouldn't give concussions.

Finally, all debuffs would have a even chance of happening, but there should probably be a 20% chance of not getting a debuff at all, otherwise every time you took a trip you'd end up with every kind of injury.
