Bundling straw and plant fibres

Postby Randozart » Fri May 14, 2010 11:04 am

To make things like bread and such you'll need lots of seeds to make alot of breads, but then there is the byproduct straw...
You can put them in chicken coops and such, but they get full too. So my idea was to be able to bundle straw and plant fibres so they don't use alot of place. You would need one rope and at least five pieces of the material you want to make a bundle for and then, when it's finished, you can store alot of the material the bundle is made for inside it. The bundle itself would take up 1x2 or 1x3 but it has lots of inventory space for the material it is made for. If not bundles, haybales would also be an option.

Until/if we manage to get stockpiles, a haybale would be pretty awesome. I'm tired of taking up 9x9 areas for stone mansions just to dump the straw inside.

I think your thinking of a Sheaf, given the large size (much larger then a back pack) this should be 20-30 fiber/straw and be a construction/carried item rather then inventory. That's a lot closer to how straw was traditionally handle. Of course they should not force you to move at crawl speed when being carried as they are not that dense but that's a outstanding issue that needs to be fixed.

Or you could just be able to carry it above your head after its constructed, instead of wearing it as a backpack of some sort.
