Tree Replanting

Postby Griegor » Sun May 16, 2010 2:43 pm

Tree replanting as it stands is far too difficult. It's far too unbalanced between how fast you can deforest an entire area compared to how long it takres to regrow. I propose that the tree planting be changed to exclude the stink at the table. let the tree quality be determined by the farming skill and the soil quality in an area where it's planted. Cut down the growth time to three days instead of an entire week. I hate just running around seeing entire areas of trees that were chopped down for LP.

Make a mass tree house with lots of herb tables & plant loads of trees in a small area. Win. It also depends on the type of "ground" you plant it on, as well. I do believe that the time it takes to grow does somewhat differ from tree to tree.

You can easily plant several dozend trees a day.

IMHO mechanics are fine, except that sprouted trees should survive longer.

I think being able to just plant the raw seeds in the ground with a high chance of failure and no quality improvement would be a useful alternative when you just want to make lots of building timber.

Make it so seedlings don't die so fast when left unplanted.

IRL trees can grow for ages / for ever in pots before you re-plant them

Yes. You get the same amount of LP you would get for chopping a tree down I believe.

Yes, it would suck really badly if you couldn't.
It's just having to be able to wait 8 hours to plant your trees that seems to be difficult for some people, when you could chop down a tree in like half a minute.

8 hours? it takes at most 2 for a tree to sprout.
