Too few Mines

Postby Griegor » Sun May 16, 2010 3:34 pm

As it stands right now the top thing I see among newly founded village is an absolute lack of any mines. Why are there so few? I understand not every village can have a mine in the game but in a word this huge it seems like there is almost only about a dozen mines in total.

In the next map is there any way more mines could be made available?

As it stands only a few of the largest village have access to them and traditionally even individuals were able to find smaller limited claims suitable for a one or two man operations.

Actually in all honesty is there any way to put in dynamic mining? Larger mines obviously should go away because of the effort needed to build the areas around them up. I would like to see smaller limited claims that people can use to get a few hundred ore or so out of before it goes dry and they have to find somwhere else. It would give access to iron to the more nomadic among us or at least give access to the smaller villages for a limited time. It would also encourage people to move around and prospect around from time to time.

Wow, so in the 7 days that you have been active you have travelled and witness all dozen of these mines in the villages? You do not know the game at all if you make sweeping statments like that. There are at least 3 mines in this supergrid where I live that I am aware of. my last village was near 3 claimed mines and there were 2 other unclaimed mines that were not too far away. So that must mean there are only 4 more mines total for every other village out there to share. Must be hell for them....

I think you should rethink your facts before you make this argument.

You know it's possible to tell someone they are wrong without being a prick about it. Try it sometime. I was going off my experience which is not finding anything in my area for hours and the words of others who have stated multiple times that most of the mines have been found already.

If there are so many other mines out there than please by all means tell me where I am most likely to find them. It seems extremely hard to find them right now.

meh, tried it. rarely works. read sabinati's response for the nice one.

Yes, people have alot to say on mines. The thing is its not somehting that should fall into your lap. These are meant to be fairly high end things that a player needs to work for if they will ever get anything.

I'll be nice this time. Try searching in caves and sparesly populated areas. You are unlikely to find mines near bigger towns and cities. Occasionally you will find mines that have the same resource as the mine that is already in a town (such as the copper mine that exists not far from Tinsel town and copperfield up north) but the majority of the time the undiscovered stuff will be in the wild frontier. All you need to do is find a cave that no one has prospected in yet and BAM you could have yourself a nice little mine. You might need to wander quite far afield to get it. If you really want to own a mine then just keep looking where no one else has looked before.

Since no one else lives there nowadays, well, no one else leading, I pretty much own the Tri-cities.
Want a mine? Come and talk with me and I'll happily give you one.

Much better. Thank you for the kind information. Perhaps I am just doing it wrong and need to spent some more time venturing further out.

Not complaining about lack of mines but imo, mines shouldn't be as big as they currently are.
Players shouldn't find a mine and then finally decide they can sit back and relax.

I suggest smaller mines with new mines being made however they must remain rare... possibly rarer than they are now.

I disagree. Finding a mine has a sublime sense of homecoming about it.
