Dancing

I love the social aspect of feasting, however, it is kind of annoying that you can just feast anytime, even if you eat only one thing. So I propose adding a new feature to feasting:....... *drumroll* Dancing! Dancing would work very simply, any player with the music skill and a new object called a lute could "strike up a tune" as long as he's near a bonfire. Once someone has started a tune others people can click on him and select "dance", while dancing your stamina is quickly drained but you gain the "ravenous" buff.

While you have the ravenous buff every item you eat while feasting gives you +1% to the extra FEP feasting gives you, although you stop getting these bonus FEPs when you cease feasting, eating food drains the ravenous buff away.

However, in order to stop macroing and make it more interesting you cannot simply sit back and watch while your char uses "strike up a tune" instead you would have to play some kind of mini-game, with your success determining how slowly the dancers stamina is drained and how quickly their ravenous buff increases. Finally, you can only gain the benefits of dancing once a day, if you cease to dance, feast a little, then return to dancing you still get the buff, but once that musician stops you cannot dance again for 24 hours.

Once someone has started a tune others people can click on him and select "dance", while dancing your sprite spins around or does some other animation, and your hunger is converted to LP, draining your hunger bar and giving you learning points.

However, in order to stop macroing and make it more interesting you cannot simply sit back and watch while your char uses "strike up a tune" instead yoy would have to play some kind of mini-game, with your success determining how much LP dancers get. This idea while interesting, I feel, is not entirely fleshed out. Why not give players the ability to just dance anywhere at any given time? Make it so the LP gains from doing so are either non-existent, or so minuscule as to be negligible. I don't see the harm in letting a farmer do a quick little dance after he has successfully grown a hemp bud, or say, a hunter after successfully killing a bear, or even the simpler man who wishes to do a little dance in somebody else's house while they sleep, completely unaware of the intruders presence. I often times like to sneak into peoples homes while their characters are sleeping and pretend I am like a little guardian angel, ever-watching, ever-hopeful, I only wish we had the ability to pet them on the head or leave a kiss so gentle and tender it could hardly be said to have occurred at all! THe possibilities! So Yes I feel that dancing would make a fine addition though I am not sure why you seem to conclude that it must occur only in social events or around a bonfire or such, I mean, who among us has not enjoyed the cool breeze on our naked flesh as we danced alone in the wilderness while smoking cured hemp buds?!?! Only a heretic, thats who.

You have serious issues. Amusing but still weird. I kinda like the dancing idea. not sure about the whole 'LP gain' idea. But to keep developing this social scene would be nice. The constant struggle for MOAR STUF does get annoying occasionally, sometimes I just like to sit on a chair and stay in village chat. Having some stupid stuff to do would be fun.

The LP gain was a reason to feast all in one go instead of making one pie, feasting, eating pie, making another, drinking water and handplowing when full, which is nowhere near as epic as eating it all in one huge feast.

Still, this doesn't do quite that, because as feasting lowers hunger rate you would get more LP from eating normally when dancing.

Instead, dancing should drain your stamina and give you the "ravenous" buff which gives you extra FEP when you eat a lot in a single feast.

Smart.

So the lyre is made out of intestines and wood?

Yeah, maybe with advanced versions that require gold and silver.

EDIT: Maybe other musicians should be able to join in to increase the effects of the song?

Dancing could just drain hunger, to replace handplowing.

Tht was how I first pictured this, but that doesn't give any bonus to eating all at once, which is how I think the feast should work.

Then again, there are some decent incentives to eat everything in one sitting, so making dancing just drain hunger might be cool.

I still kind of like my "ravenous" buff.
