cartography for noobs

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

cartography for noobs

Ok, had a thought the other day.
If you made inkweed a lot easier to see
made cartography one of the cheapest early skills you got,
and made sure the LP bonus was worth while,

Then maybe we'd have more new players out there trying to make maps?

That'd result in more maps, new players spending more time exploring their areas and hopefully bumping into each other, and potentially less horrible noob grinding areas with a million half built looms

Right now there appears to be an easy way to get LP via inkweed making tons of map copies, making inkweed easier to find might make this a much bigger problem.

With havenmap.tk going down, I would indeed like to see some player maps happening, although if they disappear after just 12 days of not looking at them, I don't see them as being that widely used.

One thing i'd really like to see is maps getting saved client-side as well, because:
- less lag when handling maps
- less danger of losing all your map data.
- easier to share on google maps and co

the devs probably won't like auto-updating maps, but this would give ingame maps a real advantage over screenshotted maps.

and, of course, player-created map markers.

Maybe make the LP for copying maps lower?

Or limit times you can copy a map, or make 'copying' maps have much lower/no LP.

Like you said you should try and benefit those who want to do cartography. The problem is to stop the people who just stand there and keep copying the area from one map to another.

+1 to the earlier inkweed

and in addition: please, PLEASE change the image of the input for making parchment FROM dried cow hide TO dried bunny hide/dried fox hide (maybe both in one picture, like the nuggets?)
that alone should help a bit
