Wool sucks

Postby Potjeh » Sun May 30, 2010 2:47 pm

I never use gauzes because I always need the hat slot. Leeches do the job just fine.

Vapntreyiu is quite simply not worth it. Everyone ditches it when they get a ranger shirt. Hell, even nettle shirt is a better choice.

Necromancer's robe, lawspeaker robe etc are quite simply useless.

So far the only use I've found for wool is making ropes (I don't use candles). I'm keeping sheep for their meat, so might as well use the free string.

In conclusion, there is very little use for wool, and zero use for high q wool. So, we need some useful woollen items whose q is relevant. I'd start by giving a major boost to Vapntreyiu and adding woollen hat, pants and boots to go with it. It obviously won't be nearly as good for protection as metal armour, but combined with leather armour it would allow one to make a metal-less set that lets him survive one hit of a sword. That's still fairly crummy, though, so I think every peace of wool gear should give a bit of unarmed skill (because unarmed works well for people who don't have metal for a sword). Nothing too crazy, but still respectable (say, +5 unarmed for every piece @ q10). In addition to that, there should be woollen cloth, which would replace linen for some high-end crafting (say, ranger gear for example). Generally, wool should be somewhere in between linen and silk, perhaps closer to silk because raising it's q is a more involved process than raising linen q.

who the hell wears ranger shirts? i wear a vap. i use gauze when i have at least 1/3 of my hhp to recover. i would like to see some more interesting uses for wool, and making the necro and ls robes more useful might be nice.

did sheep get the same boost that cows did re: breeding?

All my internets are belong to you my good sir.

They should make it so that Vapntreyius are at least 20/20 or better yet 30/30 since the materials used in it is somewhat harder to obtain than leather, and I agree that matching boots and pants would be truly awesome.

Also, I just have to say that mods for some reason always have the best ideas.

Seriously, Ranger's shirts? Don't they only give +stealth? I've got a general rule that if it gives AC, I'm wearing it, so the padded shirt has been glued to my slot torso slot since it came out. (I also like how it looks but that's another matter). It sucks, but so do the other contenders for that slot.

I do agree with the basic thrust of the post, though. Wool could certainly use a stuff update.

Oh wait, it's just stealth. I thought it also gives per.

Now I've revealed I'm too poor to wear a full ranger set

1) Sheep should give milk. There should be a specific subset of cheeses made from sheep's milk.
2) There should be wool *cloth*
3) Clothes should have more variables.
4) There should be more wool stuff.

In short: True dat.

If we're talking sheep in general, some kind of sausage that uses more mutton than intestine would be nice. Mutton and chicken sausage would be a dream come true.

Not that I don't agree with your suggestion in general, but would you mind telling me how a ranger shirt is better than the Vapntreyiu? I know nobody in Sodom bothering to wear a ranger shirt, but everyone is wearing the armor buff. So while the devs are at improving clothing, do so for rangers clothes as well, because for their cost they pretty much suck. At least the cape and the shirt.
