Seed Bag+ food trough

Postby drewdawg2 » Sun May 30, 2010 5:12 pm

I think it should be implemented that you can fill a seed bag then use it to fill a food trough, im getting so tired of manually dragging every seed into my trough for my animals, that i was actually tempted to just let them starve!

Agreed. It'd also be neat if we could throw whole pumpkins into through.

That idea with pumpkins is made of win. Even with only five pregnant cows I had to completely fill two troughs and then top them up again so my beasties would survive thru the weekend. Shift click should work with the trough, and it should be possible to put large items like pumpkins in whole. Also right clicking a seed bag on the trough to empty its contents there would be nice. I'm sure all of this stuff will be in eventually, it's probably just at the bottom of a long list of things that ned to be done :D As of now though it's a real time-consumer trying to run even a small milk-herd like mine.

Also, I don't know if straw counts for any more food in the trough, but I really don't think it does. And it should. I mean, c'mon, a pile of straw feeds my animals less than a half dozen seeds? Giving straw more weight in the trough as the "staple" food for livestock would go a good way to making it a lot more useful. As is now its your seeds that make up the bulk of animal fodder whereas the straw you may or may not even bother picking up to throw in there since it can't be compressed into a seedbag and you need an inventory full of seedbags to harvest a chunk of a decent sized field.

Also, a backpack seed item would be nice - a gunnysack or something I suppose which would provide many many more slots than all the seedbags you can fit in your inventory but would replace your backpack. It could even be made into like a portable trough, with only a bar to represent what was in it and no ability to take the seeds back out, but instead the ability to fill the trough up to the same level (so you harvest part of your crop for the next planting the normal way then you put on your gunnysack and go thru the rest of it for fodder only).

But yeah, the trough is a real pain right now unless you only keep a couple animals.

Potjehs pumpkin idea is great, I want it in the game NOW! Seedbags I don't care about, they suck no matter what.

euh.... you can just click fast and a lot while holding shift and it will empty the seeds into the through, sure 1 at a time but it will take from the bags aswel so its good enough.

I'd rather not develop RSI on top of my already horrible wrists. :)

He's saying you just hold shift and left click, you don't need to move your wrists around.

Using my finger extended I usualy ever so slightly move my wrist to click the fastest, using this method I can typically rival AutoClickers (at the diadvantage of the finger pain).

You can deposit seeds from seedbags into troughs, but you have to have a seed in your inventory to start.

Makes no sense. Fix it.
Come back two hours earlier.
