Sprinkle the river banks with runestones reading: "To get out of a boat, ctrl-left click"?
Ask the devs to put up a line about it just under the pink "Play" oval on all the site pages?
Aggressively stop every stranger you see, especially those in brown top hats and demand if they know how to get out of a boat. If they don't know, tell them. (Additionally tell them that swimming is lethal)?
Ask the dev's to put a "Help" link between "Home" and "About' which links to the "How do I" forum?
Ask the dev's to put the information on the "How-To" page?
Put a sticky at the very top of the "How Do I Forum" entitled : "To get out of a boat, ctrl-left click!"?
Make ctrl-left click do strange and wonderful things in different circumstances. For example if you press ctrl-left click when picking mulberry leaves you abruptly generate up to twelve flying silk moths. If you press ctrl-left click when in combat your attack and defense meters reverse with each other. If you press ctrl-left click when in a house you find yourself climbing up the chimney.... A few such oddities will get everyone trying ctrl-left click at random intervals and hopefully the noobs will learn by cultural osmosis?
Leave parchments with the information in a wicker basket by every lean-to you find? Gives 78 lp.
Make the information pop up on screen whenever a new character first arrives by their hearth fire?
Write the instructions in blood on the walls of the character creation room? (This will require the skills of a gifted hacker and graphic artist.)
Have a golden carp poke up out of the water at intervals and say, "Ctrl-click to get out of a boat" much the way the fish jumping or clay node graphic appears. (There should also be a hand with a silver sword and a disembodied voice asking, "Are you worthy of the quest?" but no way to interact with it, just as a tease.)
