Remove the black loading screen.

Remove the black loading screen.

Postby StarChaser » Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:06 am

When walking along I know there is a large area that the loading screen is covering yet I should be able to see. While people may still have black unloaded spots on the map at least draw all the stuff we should be able to see. I hate having that thing I can use just inside the loading screen even though I can see the corner of it or something. If the loading screen could just not be drawn at all it would add a little bit of game play back to us underprivileged ones. Please I beg of thee, do something about this mess, I am going mad.

I know what he means.

Much of the map in populated areas are too complex and take ages to load, if at all. Apparently causing all sorts of problems with routers ect.

Solution that allows partial loading of the map or pre-downloading of the game map might help fix this problem.

Well guys, you see. The problem with pre-defining the structure of how the map should look before it's written on your client from the server is that it would create network conflicts and crashes. Far more than people have currently. The strain of your client would be sick. Would you really want that, or would you prefer it to stay gradual and.. Hmm, I don't know. Invest in better internet?

It is, just not that way. Understand that Java is limited.

I very much doubt java is the limiting factor here

The particular problem SC is complaining about is the same packet dropping problem that has existed and, seemingly, will continue to exist.

I think you guys completely misunderstood what I meant... I was talking about packet dropping. I should have mentioned that in my original post but since I complained about it in about 20 threads I thought people would know what I was talking about. :P
The problem is fixed apparently anyway, if I could get on that is. :\
