Stone wall

Postby LordOfTime » Sun Jun 13, 2010 7:21 pm

I think it would be a good idea to have a stone wall as something in between a Roundpole fence and a Palisade.
it would be strong enough to stop a bear but time consuming enough to prevent it being built as a trap around a bear.
it should have no key as its primary goal is to prevent hostile wildlife attacking

Initial Corner Post: 50 stone
Subsequent Corner posts: 30 stone
Wall Sections: 10 stone
Gate: 4 boards and 4 blocks of wood

i support stone walls, but not like this. i want medieval stone walls, as in the kind that stop a siege. a wall that is made up of hundreds to stones, and a metal-expensive gatehouse, and towers. Able to be built in layers of at least 3 thick so that you can walk on top of it by climbing up ladders or the gatehouse (only climbable from the inside)

that could be an upgraded brickwall

the next tier in walls! death to the stupid metal-cornered brick walls. stone walls are the first step towards castles. (followed by keeps, moats, and finally, siege warfare!!!)

Brought this same idea up to friends quite a few times.

Something like a roundpole that's easily breakable but simply for separating and easy to stop wildlife is awesome.

there should be one that's just a shitty little stone fence, basically the equivalent of roundpole fence, and another that requires more effort/material that is at least as strong as a pallisade.

and yes, this has been discussed before. numerous times. at length.

I like this idea, but i dont like that stone wall should be used only as small fence.
It should be stronger than palisade, and i think no one will ask why.

Another point why i would like to stone wall be implemented is because they fit much better than existing brick walls. Just because brick walls (that look like those we have in game now) appeared somewhere around XIV-XV centuries and it looks like someone from future made a time machine, came to our time and taught all secret of wall building.

What we need:

What we have:

Stone walls should require large amounts of stones (500-600 per starting cornerpost? 100-150 per segment) just because stone is unlimited and easy-gained resource if you have at least one large rock near your base. Then maybe it should require glue or clay as cement material. And maybe one bar of any metal per cornerpost (or maybe iron/bronze only).

Dont blame me, just expressed my opinion.

i agree we should have a stone fence that stops animals, and stone walls, which should be better than brick walls.
