Yet Another Decay Suggestion:

Postby Kallev » Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:25 pm

Decay is a big deal for everyone. It is all around not very enjoyable (except for Jorb. He gets off on it). For me, the solution is pretty simple. Make decay cause more and more damage every time it strikes something, and at the same time, reduce the damage caused initially by shitloads. Every time you repair something, the damage decay does to it is reset to the first stage. Now, 1 hit = 1 repair, no matter what. If changed, it could be that hits 1-4 = 1 repair, 5-6 = another, 7 = another, and 8 could take two repairs. Semi-regular (instead of the current constant need for) repairs will keep you in good shape, and damage stays at a manageable level. Abandonment would cause a very rapid wiping out. Civilization levels could tweak things further. In high civilization levels, the first hit could be stronger, but the damage builds slowly. In low civilization, the first hit could be weak and build rapidly. Or the other way around.

Next up, everytime you build a hearth fire, you get a free log cabin, 3 cupboards, a herbalist table, and a few drying frames and tanning tubs. Oh, and 500k LP.

This way, nobody will ever have any difficulty in playing the game and also not have any problems with the game mechanics.

No one wants a carebear game, but you probably understand that decay is a bit too much currently. My suggestion makes it easier thing to do and a harsher thing to ignore. I'd remove the insults and post a rebuttal instead, but there is no point in your post to disprove.

If anyone else wants to post, please refrain from jackassery.

I am actually starting to sort of agree that decay is a bit excessive.

Depends.

Mansions and houses f.ex. seem to decay fine, the ovens on the other hand...
