Birchbark (new items)

Excuse for bad English

It seems to me that birchbark it is a little used in game. Only four possible applications. In this theme I only will list some subjects by which it is possible to do from birchbark.
1) can be used instead of parchment (so it and was used earlier).

2) From birchbark spun baskets and kuzovok, used for gathering of mushrooms and berries. Basket carried in hands, and kuzovok behind the back.

3) As did bast shoes. Convenient, though also unreliable footwear (some days of constant use destroy bast shoes).
Image
4) Similarity of canoe of ancient Indians, only not from skin, and from birchbark.
Image
5) For flexibility increase and consequently also capacities onions turned around birchbark.
Image
6) The Siberian hunters did decoy for hunting for the deer, unmistakably imitating voice excited during the period rut animal.
Image
7) The birchbark handle for knife doesn't allow it to slide on palm, and at the same time doesn't allow to sink.
Image
8) As from birchbark did thuesen, special capacities for storage of liquids, saltings of fish, mushrooms, vegetables.

It only part of that it is possible to produce from birchbark, I hope something from this can be included to game.

Yours faithfully, Doppelganger

Very cool stuff you have there! That basket could maybe store 9 blueberries, chantrelles, etc? (like a key-ring)

Good ideas. Browsing wikipedia, it can also be used as a dye or be formed into a cast for a broken arm and you can extract oil which can be used as a glue.

Looking at the whole tree, and not just the bark,
the leaves can also be used as a dye or for washing clothes,
the ashes from the wood yields, when mixed with water, lye,
the sap has several healthy uses (e.g. beer),
parts of the tree can be eaten
and more...

The Swedish wikipedia also says that birch is considered one of the 14 most important plants in a survival situation, so it has its uses.

For this reason also it seemed to me strange that the birch isn't claimed in game.

Also birch the mushroom Chaga grows. It is used in medicine as antineoplastic means

I'd love to see some sort of tree based upgrade, where every tree is given several new uses. As it stands, while Birch is not as useful as it is in the real world, there are at least some uses for it. Several of the trees have absolutely no uses. Oaks, Maples, Willows, and Pines are all only good for wood, granted they give (with the possible exception of willow, as I've not really bothered to chop any down) more wood than the others. Firs and Elms are good for boughs, though that's as good as saying they're only good for wood.
