Bandit masks

Make it so wearing a bandit mask prevents someone who is already memorized from being recognized (no name over their head) until they are memorized again.

From the announcement thread:

burgingham wrote:I am wondering if the mask has an actual use if I get its purpose right. When you memorize an unknown person it is ??? anyway, the mask doesnt change that. So you would have to find out who that person is, if he is wearing a mask or not doesn't make a difference. It only makes him more suspicipous if he does wear one. What I would like to see is, that people that already got you memorized do not recognize you immediately. If this is what the mask actually does and i did not understand it right, then nvm my post.

I don't quite understand what you mean. From the way you present the idea, it sounds like the mere act of equipping a bandit's mask would scrub that character from the kinlist of anyone who had memorized him. I doubt that's what you actually mean, though.

I mean that if someone you have memorized or kinned appears wearing a bandit mask, their name won't appear over their head and their name will be ??? when you talk to them. This will last until they take the mask off or until you memorize them again.

I think what he means is instead of making it harder to memorize the wearer, the mask should conceal his identity.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

The bold section is what I meant. It actually might be this way, I haven't really messed with masks.

I agree with this suggestion. I think it could lead to some epic backstabs.

To make this suggestion perfect, you would have to also add the following:

- change the online status of the person with the mask to offline.
- do not display the bandit mask in the players portrait or show the previous headgear instead. (so they cant just scan their friends list and look for who is wearing the mask)

this would allow a person to rob/kill their friends without their friend knowing its them without passing the per * exp check. it would add some drama if it actually happened.

Good idea. Maybe there could be a stealth bonus, too, or something to make ranging harder.

Need more gear for the 'bad life' besides just the mask.

Shouldn't pile too much on just that one item.
