Owning Multiple Claims

Postby Wwariorr10 » Tue Jul 13, 2010 9:42 pm

Ok, So I know i'm new on these forums, but I've been playing Haven for a long time, and I know my stuff, so just hear me out before you flame.

So, the proposed change is the ability of owning multiple claims. The reason I want this is because I own a house in a town, and I also have a large farm outside, and I can't claim both.

Some possible things you may worry about is balance. How would I balance this you ask?
Firstly, I would require the accuidition of a second skill to place multiple claims. It would cost, say, 4000 more lp, and require you to already have yeomanry.

The limits on your second claim would be as follows:
Claim 2 must be at least 100 tiles away from original claim.
Claim would also be way more expensive. Say, 2000 lp to start the claim (if you got rid of the claim, you would not get the 1k lp back) and 20 lp for each additional tile.

As a bonus for this skill, you could maybe have a total of 5 claims, each following the rules above, but becoming invreacingly expensive. (Example: Claim 3, cost 3k lp, tiles - 30 lp and so on)

This could open the doors for "Landlords", owning several houses, each being rented by someone for a small price per time period.

What do you think.
(If you've read this far, you can flame)

No one would really bother to make the second really expensive claim.

And why don't you just use the banner of the town?

This would be nice, even with a high cost.

A high initial cost (50k?) for the secondary claim would be nice, or perhaps it should scale with the player's maximum LP, it should be something that is not too terrible for new characters but is much worse for older characters. Also each claim should cost more the more you have, example (Random shit out here bro, don't take these numbers as ANYTHING at all)

1milil LP character = 1,000 LP
5mil LP character = 25,000 LP
25mil LP character = 125,000 LP

Obviously not so direct a scale, but it should cost a lot more if you have more LP so you can't just 'spend' it, the cost to extend shouldn't cost too much more than the original, that already adds up fast.

I want multiple claims would get rid of alts. Making more expensive for more lp chars makes no sense though you'd still make claim alts :|

Griefing via claims everwhere would be too simple if that's the case.

A 12mil LP character who has put a good deal of that into hunting can make 150k in an hour to expand his claim (or set a buuunch of them down) as opposed to a 1mil LP character who might be lucky to make 50k/hr LP
