Village member register & management

Postby Sarge » Fri Jul 16, 2010 2:14 pm

As far as I understand there is no ingame way to keep track of village members.

Lawspeakers and Chieftains should have an option under 'Village Management' (can't remember the exact menu name) that opens a register of the village members. Within this register, like the new options menu, buttons & check boxes for easy membership management, i.e. Exile, appoint Chieftain (LS option only), appoint Hirdsmen (Chieftain option only) etc.

I know that Jorb is a bit too eager to promise things every now and then. Consider it a character flaw of his. :)

Edit: That said, I know that it should be done, but I'm rewriting associated parts of the server right now, so trying to do that, too, in parallel, would make things very messy. There are also some issues that I haven't figured out entirely how to do properly without ugly hacks. Not to mention that it's boring.

There are ways to get around all of these if one tries hard enough... but this:

It's like ironing, no matter how you approach it, it sucks.

All in jest. ;)

Loftar is lazy, consider it a character flaw of his. :)

Srsly, though, I don't believe I've ever given any solemn promises that we'll do anything. I state what we are planning/want to do, and people interpret that as promises. I cannot promise anything, and don't take anything I say about future development as a hands down promise. There are always caveats.

EDIT: On the issue of village management it's mostly a question of laziness, though. Mostly loftar's, but I will -- in a spur of out-of-character humility -- admit that I am to blame for part of it. Updates like that aren't fun for us to do, and we usually tend to do whatever seems most fun.

Sorry, shit happens. ;)
