Primitive Bandage

Postby Reisiger » Sat Jul 17, 2010 1:45 am

Being stuck in the Wilderness with no swamp nearby... I wondered if some sort of primitive bandage could be made to accommodate an in-between the Gauze and Leech, with the idea of having the result act as a bandage which would use up the weapon slot while used.

Description: Primitive Bandage heals four HHP at a time, very slowly; after it heals 1/4 of your possible HHP, it stops healing. The Primitive Bandage only turns to a useless Used Up Bandage when you take it off of your weapon arm, which you should do when you notice it stopped healing. The Primitive Bandage uses the weapon arm making combat impossible.

  • Size 2 x 1
  • Base LP Gain 15
  • Skill(s) Required
    • First Aid
  • Object(s) Required
    • String (any) x 4
    • Tree Bark (any) x 2
  • Produced By Nothing
  • Required By Used Up Bandage

As I haven't managed to get my hands on a gauze or a leech, I have no idea if those effects can stack... if they should or not I'd thus better leave up for discussion by those who know more. My personal opinion is that the inability to fight while using it would make up any 'stacking'.

[EDIT] Fixed the "Required By" to match the above and increased the size from 1 x 1 to 2 x 1 since it'd 'immobilize' an arm.
[EDIT] Oooopsie... string x4, not sling x 4 >_>

there should definitely be more options for healing, but i don't know if a bark based bandage is the solution.

bedrest should restore hhp imo...

How about meat meets face?

You mean the idea that you take 'cold' meat out of a fridge and use it to keep down swelling? Perhaps not considering the meat that the hearthlings encounter is likely to be warm.

Slings as in Strings, right?

Also, I'm not sure I would be comfortable with using Stinging Nettle as a bandage. :x

Ooopsie... yes strings not slings...

Anyway, the bark would be placed on top the wound and the string placed around it... when the bark then dries a bit it'll become slightly rigid, helping to keep the limb in place.

It'd be a very crude way of keeping a wound covered... not like the gauze

1/4 is too high, it's practically a gauze. Maybe 1/8.

or a very small fixed number.

gauze is 1/3rd , its easier to make 3 of these or even 20 then it is to make a gauze.

so yeah healing should be 5base over 10mins , going up with the normal q increase 10 at q40, 15 at q90 (though people wont really upp its q, if they can do that they can get gauze)

this should be a really shitty emergency healing method, the materials are ridiculously easy to get.

True, but it'd still need to be better than having a leech slapped onto you... :?

Maybe the same rate of checks as a leech has but only 1 HHP gets healed and it only heals 1/5 or 1/6 of max?

A salve would be best, it should do very little by itself, but do more if applied to gauze
