Now this Idea isn't 100% hassed out, nor am I able to do it myself fully enough. Perhaps someone else can make it clearer if they understand me...
Now As the title says, I was thinking of a way to auto move the character like most people seem to want, clicking on the minimap to move from one point to another, ie when using wagons, boats and so on...
We have maps which are filled in and such but after that they have little use, heck most people never use them cause the Gain from it is limited to a fault. What I was thinking was a new item known as the compass. While it isn't used to point North (cause everyone knows that its the top right corner, if you didn't be educated) it when used in junction with a premade map it allows the player to not only be 'pinged' on the map item when opened but also when there is a click on the map you can set waypoints on the 'revealed' land. When you close the map you get the option to follow, and when you do its like those road markings, you manuver around trees and stone to get to the waypoint...
I the only thing is you need the compleate path to get from point A to point B. So you can't say trade a local map with someone else and expect it to work. It needs to be in one clean path on the regional map and above. This makes Mapmaking useful for if one person makes a map that goes say from Nople to Newbrodgar, with all local maps inbetween filled, and sells them players would be able to follow those maps and the waypoints they set...
Building roads in the game would allow for Landmarks, something easier to set as waypoints and so on, boat travel would be less of a click fest like most travel already is...
OF course wagon travel would be hard to do in Wilderness zones due to its the cow that drags the wagon that goes around the trees and stuff, not the wagon itself. Which would also bring in a new form of 'PvP' Highwaymen, they can drop a Stone or something in the middle of a premade road that gets used by wagons, trap the wagon and raid the traveller....
I can see proper Caravan trade with armed guard that way, and an interesting playstyle as a Highwayman....

Map+Compass, Ping on Map window to show location of player, Setting up Waypoints to auto follow (Like Roadmarkers) if Point A and Point B are compleated (no empty local maps between). Less Click Fest when Traveling outside of Teleportation...
