With fusion just around the corner

It has been around the corner for many, many years, there are still a lot of problems to solve. Who knows if they will ever be solved so that fusion would be financially sustainable?

It will not surprise me if Jalpha has working fusion reactor in his compound right now.

Summary: Should we panic? No. Is the world going to end? No. Should we be concerned and take reasonable precautions? Yes.

Finnish government banned all assemblies of over 10 people, but now they announced that movie theaters and restaurants are OK to keep open and for people to visit them!
Just when you thought that the current government has even 1 thing under control, they don't!!!!!!!!!!

And by the way: do not trust any numbers about infections, because different countries have different criteria for testing, in Finland you are only tested if you are A: doctor or a nurse B: seriously ill and they cannot figure out what else it could be. So in other words, 99% cases are not being tested in Finland, even if they would be above the mild. (as long as they do not require hospital treatment)

We are still below the average amount of deaths from pulmonary diseases that happen every year in winter. We're talking about around 25,000 mostly elderly who usually succumb in Germany (Germany alone, not EU and not even worldwide) every year.

Which does not seem to happen this year, for some reason. Thus 8,270 dead worldwide - while tragic for the individuals - is no cause for panic. Even looking at the Diamond Princess cases, even if the 14 ones still in critical condition would drop dead it would just be a death rate of 3% - that's in line with what a normal influenza wave is able to do to such a population distribution, with no one really caring about that, simply because it is normal for the old ones to die of something.

TL;DR: In Germany alone influenza infects Millions every year, killing around 25k. Worldwide with corona there nothing to relevant to see here, you can move on.

Deducing from the fact that I literally cannot exit Finland now (they closed borders) and everything inside the country is closed. I would say otherwise.
It's a huge thing and it will have long lasting effects.

And when we compare the current coronavirus to influenza, it is way more severe. Normal influenza does NOT bring normal people into ventilators, except in very very rare cases, but coronavirus seems to do this a lot more often.
It could be a lot worse for sure, but comparing coronavirus to influenza and saying that they are the same thing is idiotic.

When coronavirus will pike in Germany You will see mate, that influenza can't be compared to this - look at Italy. Few next weeks will be hard for Europe.

Which is my point: are the medical facts behind what is actually happening really warranting the turning of free countries into somehing from a dystopy movie?

Normal influenza does NOT bring normal people into ventilators, except in very very rare cases, but coronavirus seems to do this a lot more often.

How have you obtained that knowledge, do you have some links to papers that show this causation?

but comparing coronavirus to influenza and saying that they are the same thing is idiotic.

If at all I compared the fallout (the dead) and concluded that the numbers so far seem to indicate coronavirus plus influenza combined having less effect than normal influenza alone had the last years. Which seems strange, given it being claimed to be way more deadly than 'normal' influenza as the reason to activate policies that effectively declared basic rights more or less void.
