Yea for the most part it is pretty relaxed unless you are working in the service industry. I see people in the supermarket without masks even though the bigger ones have security guards to try and prevent it. Most stores require masks but it's much more relaxed out on the street.

I sure am enjoying my half price meals though.

That's a hint that you (country) do not have a problem, isn't it?

Most of them aren't certified or anything, so there are no guarantees whether or not they will help you or others even if you could afford to buy them

Every tiny nail in Germany has to be DIN x ISO y with TÜV z certification and whatnot, the masks on the other hand... absolutely nothing mandated, though a long list of different classifications (among others some that would actually protect against things the size of a virus) exist. From this it should be quite obvious that the reason for mandating masks is not increased protection of the population against an alleged 'killer virus'.

Also there are indications that there might be a little problem with face masks from synthetic fibers shedding microplastics in a convenient location to directly inhale them...

The government has fucked up really badly with the virus, they caused massive economical hardship with their previous restrictions, which people will now pay for quite some time.

I'm not completely up to date with the numbers, but it seems that we already burned through (better: reallocated it to the rich) something around of above 1/4 of a yearly gross domestic product - the correct word for 'quite some time' is forever, as the money we just gifted to the rich will be borrowed from them for interest.

The economic effect of the 'Coronavirus pandemic' is basically a gigantic raid.

Production of meat is heavily subsidized in Finland, why is health of the people via masks and other protective equipment not worth subsidizing?

Because washing hands, coughing into the armpit (instead of the hands), staying at home when being ill and keeping distance from others when you are immune deficient... is enough, unless there is something Ebola-class (which Corona is not)?

Eat out to help out.

Basically you only pay half the cost of your meal at participating venues. The other half is paid by the government within a few days. Alcoholic beverages are not included. I honestly would never have eaten out in London at all while here otherwise. I can get three days worth of food from the supermarket for £12.

When the disease is spread mainly by sneezes and cough, it is logical to force people to wear masks which reduce the spreading impact of these, because there is no way that majority of people would cough into their armpit etc.

By that logic: nothing short of mandatory shrinkwrap for everyone at birth will be enough.

Weird logic you have.
Mandatory shrinkwarp would be too disruptive, when compared to a mask.

It is spread mainly by surface contact. People sneeze or cough onto surfaces and then you touch them.

People also rub their noses or stick their fingers in their mouths and then touch surfaces.

People also touch their masks and then touch sufaces.

Doorhandles are my greatest fear. Just wash your hands.

Your opinion may change when you are sitting in a train, and the person in front of you sneezes, and droplets visually fly towards you.

I have yet to have that happen. Are you saying that the citizens of Finland are more uncouth than those of the Balkans or the UK?

I think I have seen a total of five people coughing and two who sneezed in the last six months. I go out almost every day in the city centers to get food from the supermarket. Only one old guy coughing had no mask or tissues.

Then again a daily commute would be a guaranteed way to get infected. Workplaces seem to be the main source of transmission.

Stop spreading lies and presenting your opinions as facts.

CDC wrote:The virus spreads easily between people

How easily a virus spreads from person-to-person can vary. Some viruses are highly contagious, like measles, while other viruses do not spread as easily. Another factor is whether the spread is sustained, which means it goes from person-to-person without stopping.

The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading very easily and sustainably between people. Information from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic suggests that this virus is spreading more efficiently than influenza, but not as efficiently as measles, which is highly contagious. In general, the more closely a person interacts with others and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spread.

The virus may be spread in other ways

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about how this virus spreads.
