Fairly certain you can bash with a sledgehammer if you have vandalism and enough strength to do so, otherwise the claim that had been on one of the salt nodes that was up in the mountain near me wouldn't have been destroyed out of the blue I imagine, especially if a ram was required for such with current siege mechanics.
I know the topic has gone a lot far than that, but I had to reply on it so ppl don't get missinformed.
Pclaim (and maybe vclaim) is NOT basheable by hand (even with sledge hammer) if it's charged! You can only bash it by hands when the claim is empty! I just TESTED it this morning, on a char with 150 str using a q70 sledgehammer. There's NO error messages (like when you try to bash a palisade fully soaked you get the "You'r not strong enough to do any damage to it" error, trying to bash a pclaim does return nothing), and no action. Whenever you try to use destroy on it, the char just walks to the claim and does absolutelly nothing. And yes, the claim shield was down (0/60000(down)) already, so it was not the shield interfering!
Only way to bash down a pclaim wich has LP on it is either using a ram or a catapult.
This MIGHT be a problem, since its a lot easier to make a troll claim when you see a village expanding than for a small village (or worse, a hermit with a vclaim) to build a ram, camp it for 24h before it dries, and camp it for another 12 hours to hit the claim every hour!
Putting up a new pclaim to troll - dream, wood, stone, 8 hours for claim to activate.
Getting a ram done - mats + 24h dry time + 12h bashing hour by hour and camping so no one destroy it.
Getting catapult done - mats wich includes brimstone - don't know how much time it'll need for a single cat to put a claim down, but this means MORE brimstone and repair dry time.
