Armor should take off a percentage of the damage rather than a flat number.

Not true

Bother to explain? Lower damage - more hits - more MM to one-shot animals. Where is your "not true" came from?

Lower damage sometimes can save you a lot of time. You could shoot a bear with enough damage to make him flee, so now you have to run after him if you didn't block him, but if you dealt less damage, you could shoot him again and he would get enraged, resulting in easy kill without running around and risking getting hit (If you're not able to one shot him ofc). For me hunting with bow is a waste of resources. You shoot them and sometimes lose the arrows, which you made out of their bones. I suggest you to start hutning melee asap, it's far better if you get used to.

Im too lazy for it, so I "hunt" melee only on those critters, that deal zero damage to me due to my AC ). And since my hunter wears only dhelm and bronzeplate, bears are still hunted by bow. And I kill them in 2 shots now - 1st to make them berserk, and second to kill. And for me - lowering bow damage will cause them to flee. And, generally, I was talking about one-shot foxes and deers - if you lower the bow damage - you'll delay the one-shot hunting for most hermits till they get better bows...
So, my point is - if you want to balance "melee vs archer" you should up melee, nor nerf archery.

What would it change ? You still would go down in seconds when somebody can shoot you even when sprinting on a horse. The only way to deal with that is either buff armors vs arrows or change the aim time.

So it already 3 ways for balancing born outside of the topic. And Im sure there are some more nteresting ways.
Or even 4:

Jorb's reply "Will consider" and after one day "No need to change, we tested it and it works as intended" XDDD

aiming is too fast
that's a fact
no amount of half assed solutions will solve anything
nerf needed
stop denying it

SWOT analysis on nerfing archery
Strengths:
combat is gonna be more balanced
Weaknesses:
there's gonna be a lot of bitching and complaining coming from noob archers
Opportunities:
an opportunity to enjoy more balanced combat
Threats:
devs might try to be creative about this issue and come up with some unnecessary convoluted system that we would have to endure for the rest of our lives
