Well I mean, if you're on your own and one random guy appears and attacks you I think it's safe to assume there are others nearby or at least on their way. You're right though that's what happened to me and it's a little more difficult to tell in that case, dude doesn't aggro you right away but all of the sudden his buddies appear and do lol but then technically that person wasn't really on their own.

Bro i didn't mean it to a peacefool hermit liek you, little Kaios, i was talking about infectedqueen here who's a wanna be warrior and who was(is?) a memebr of the most numerous faction of w7 where he could just make a skype call and get help anywhere on the map(i've seen their cr system) within minutes. You would think it's an acceptable risk for a "warrior" to get into fight with a random white dot because worst case scenario you just have to survive for a few minutes till your friends come, but from my experience everytime i tracked them down all alone, they would just run in panic to the escape boats or open gates which was very irritating. I only rememer one time a dis korean tried to fight back instead of fleeing, didn't go well for him though, but anyways. What i'm trying to say here is that this aids king is really just a little bitch, and all his friends are bitches too. Still lmao how we tracked them down raiding a random brickwall 5 of them and 3 of us, then we chased him(kenpachi) around the place for a few minutes while his friends were just standing aside watching how he was getting killed, then after we finished with him we chased the rest of them and killed two more. Really tells a lot about what kind of people we're talking about here hehe.

idk man I think most people who are out exploring while they have scents out will run because they know they've committed crimes and always assume the worst about who is tracking them, you can't really complain about it when it's a meta created through the very actions of those same players. Most players always assume the worst when they meet a stranger whether they're peaceful hermits or avid pvpers, rarely anybody goes out raiding without some kind of backup on the line.

Besides that, players attempting friendly interaction on their own will always be braver than those who roam around in packs aggroing on sight. You got it twisted bro being the murderer in this game is easy, being the politician is much more difficult.
