So I spawned right near New Brodgar's staging grounds on the 2nd day after the world reset and decided it was a sign that I should try being part of a large group this time around instead of hermiting.

Being a "new" person to NB, I ended up on the outside of the outlined wall (which never really went up, and once it did were blown back down) but that was fine. My hours were going to be pretty casual and all I wanted were good trade partners later on anyways.

My personal experience was pretty much playing solo except being collateral dmg to the raids. The only ingame help/support I received was a bunch of worms to use as bait and access to the Iron Tower's roadpost. For that, I helped with some grunt labour in chopping down trees and making the big palisade (which got bashed down almost immediately).

The skype chat did feel odd to me at times... there wasn't really a sense of camaraderie or organization for a while.

What surprised me about this whole situation was that I never knew that the group was comprised of 3-4 factions until AFTER the skype group underwent a purge...

Now I'm contemplating drifting somewhere and setting up a new home.. or staying here in the ruins of NB. ;)

That's what happens when a bunch of bittervets ask to join a newb village expecting it to be simultaneously some bastion of freedom, paramilitary organization, and subservient to their egos all at once. I apologize for your poor experience Nytro - I hope you find a home that makes your time in Haven better.

For what it's worth, us W8 New Brodgarians have moved on, and you are certainly welcome to come settle.

If the forum opinion of Brodgar controlled our success, we would have been dead and gone for quite some time now.
Our village is open recruitment - We accept anyone and everyone, even in a community comprised of a demographic that isn't always the most inviting, friendly, or well adjusted.

Of course there are going to be malcontents and drama. There are also a large number of people here that we killed/beat down last world, taking an opportunity to pile onto a bandwagon. If you think that reflects poorly on me, your entirely entitled to your opinion.

The problem is not that they expect it to be a powerfull bastion of freedom, paramilitary organisation or some shit...

The problem is that they expected you to be a wise leader that would guide them into creating such a place.

The problem is that you are a fucking moron that does not know how to play, much less lead a proper village.

Also you don´t seem to dedicate your time to the game, you seem to be just bossing newbs around and taking advantage of their work while you just afk to "chill with gf".

Bottom line is: The problem is you.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Trenial.

I would love to see a NB led by someone who isn't robben though

"Success"...

I would not call getting half of your villagers slaughtered and being forced to flee from your village while having half your villagers defect a success.

More like a major and drastic defeat. ¦]

Even though I dislike Robben quite intensely, I'm gonna be the neutral party here and say that despite everything he's the only one attempting a minimally interesting community project this world.
