More people is always to mean more power. Only way for preventing this zerg tactics is with making it less effective to have large army battle. Example to making all attacks deal some damage in the AoE around attacking and have for there to be some friendly fire.

Dumbest suggestion of the year award!
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Only way for preventing this zerg tactics.

Zerg tactics were not so powerful in the old combat, the fights could last 40+ minutes with the old combat system whereas right now it lasts 10 minutes at maximum at large battles like they had yesterday, not talking about small ones which lasts like 5 minutes maximum where they would last atleast triple the time in the old combat. Which was way more fun and it atleast required some skill btw
#oldcombatrant #bringbackoldcombat

for example look at this fight here
https://youtu.be/kpb4ORifG_o?t=1h29m5s

it lasted for almost 2 hours but it was mostly boat jerking tho, even that was way more fun than it is now, i blame inner cancer party for this stupid combat we have right now
#oldcombatrant #bringbackoldcombat#oldcombatrant #bringbackoldcombat#oldcombatrant #bringbackoldcombat

sum other vids for the old tiems

There was a wise soviet conscript that was surrounded by the enemy on the battle of Stalingrad. A mortar shot teared his pants apart causing a big hole in his pants right on his right butt cheek. He felt a glorious cold ass breeze of wind on his butt cheek, like it would be sent by stalin himself, he said - hide your butts

Oh I do not think this is a good idea. It was an example of how it could be done.

Why should it be possible to raid a faction's main village with 1 character?

Probably thinking of W2 or something. There were a few times that happened

I would like to see from this thread what defines a faction.

Are factions defined by a number of population? Are they defined by some economic output? Defined by their quality of anvil or agricultural goods? Is a faction a group a villages, or is it just one village? Is it defined by just the willingness to be called a faction? Or is it a title awarded for some action committed for or against another group?

This thread, while on a nice path, doesn't make the political geography less nebulous.

In the current post, it's not very clear the purpose of bolding a name and placing it adjacent a player username.

Explore the text options to make a more interesting and more readable thread.

Below, I've made changes and have provided a contribution to your thread:

Wars & Battles:

April 2016

Image An alliance, led by DIS, conducts a siege upon New Brodgar. The siege, for a time, continues without intervention and drains the village's shield. Inability to retaliate nearly brings New Brodgar to its knees. The village, about to be breached, is rescued by a formation of some fifteen warriors, led by Willy Potter's Wizards. This culminates in a thirty-hearthling skirmish and the largest fight to date for the ninth world. Willy Potter's Wizards and Co. emerge victorious and without casualty.

Image Willy Potter's wizards siege AD. As the siege progressed for several hours, inhabitants of AD gathered their valuables, and what they could not carry, they destroyed. At the conclusion of the siege, AD was razed.

Image Nytro, an exile from New Brodgar, steals a knarr from Whoreshore and beaches the vessel inland, by way of a crossroad . This leaves the knarr outside Koyu's estate, and as a result, Whoreshore assumes Koyu has stolen their knarr. Whoreshore attacks and kills residents of Koyu's estate, stealing a painting named Rin in the process . Rin, having gone missing, spurs exiles of New Brodgar into righting a wrong, and recovering the painting. Initially, in collaboration with Willy Potter's Wizards, these individuals attempt a frontal assault . While effective in eliminating a Whoreshore murderer, the assault does not yield the painting. A week passes, and when a vulnerability is discovered in the design of Whoreshore, the exiles from New Brodgar collaborate on a new assault, which concludes with Whoreshore being razed to the ground, and Rin being returned .

March 2016
ImageThe titan of New Brodgar, Bob Dole, is killed as the result of an exploit. The exploit, as perpetrated by 広島, results in the 広島 being vandalized, to some degree, by Jorb. Further, this event leads to the identity of 広島 being revealed. The raiders from 広島, are none other than raiders from the group known best as, Ainran.

Image A raiding village, known as Whoreshore, attacks and kills hermits to the north. Exiles from New Brodgar respond to Whoreshore's raiding by conjuring nidbanes and sending a division of fighters called, The Ironborn. Whoreshore loses a tree farm and an individual to a nidbane. There are no additional casualties.

February 2016
Image The formation of New Brodgar is disrupted by raiders from 広島. Robben DuMarsch's response to attacks result in a schism at New Brodgar. Approximately half of New Brodgar either depart freely or are exiled.
