A chilling betrayal

Postby Archiplex » Mon Jun 13, 2016 6:09 am

And yet, history seems to repeat even when accounting for the mistakes of the past- the least we can treasure is that the harm and wounds were not quite as deep as they were before.

Having been recruiting in the past weeks, Niflheim has strung itself into an interesting tidbit of drama based on those recruits (who have now decided to leave the village)- and we found ourselves in rivalry with AD. In my opinion, it was exciting- perhaps naively in the same sake of last world. I wanted someone to fight, we all did- it's boring to live in a world where all you do is sit around and grind a number upwards. I was prepared to die, i was prepared for siege attacks and worried days talking strategy and plans with the villagers, but perhaps the one thing I wasn't prepared or fond of was the concept of an attack from the inside.

Of course, haven being haven- any enemy will desire nothing less than the total destruction of the people they oppose; while we necessarily would hate to have that, I honestly couldn't expect any other village to feel the same.
After the events of the last thread, our village had strong suspicion that the chain of events were simply not possible to be a coincidence in how they lined up with our enemies finding us hunting, the general location and coming in such a wave. We knew something was up, but of the new recruits did not know who to suspect- we chose the most likely to incriminate since his appearance timed perfectly, but alas we were wrong (Or, we had multiple spies.). In the coming week we encountered them yet again (A villagemate was caught when going for a salt node by those in AD), and many of us decided it was simply too much of a coincidence to happen straight, and we suspected we might have a spy yet still in our village.

But, I try to establish and make sure all our actions are fair, the two suspected villagers had both put in some work and I did not want to take full action until I was positive.

In time I became more trusting, and after considering events decided that it was more coincidence than not (their spy; Quincy, would help mine and did considerable mining in a bit of time below as well as certain events not lining up, such as AD not killing the villagers they found- which they logically would have if she were to be a spy, as well as Frost never de-kinning me even though I warned everyone who was out when he logged into his fighter.)

So then came the time where we allowed her and another villager onto the alts- which was probably the worst decision of the day, because later that day during a lull where everyone was off playing other games, one more villager logged in to two dead characters, and thus alerted everyone.

You see, Quincy had indeed used the communal characters to suicide them into the waters near us- and kill an outlawed character in a plot they had access to- Finally, afterwards, she sent a nidbane after myself (Due to vandalism scents left in the claim from clearing hearthfires of inactive players in spots needed to be dug)- and used an exploit that allowed the nidbane to become aggressive and attack my character without waiting any time, or waiting for me to log in at all. Such then, I had logged into my account, with Hel gone and dead- with no murder or battery, she used another character to steal some valuables from my corpse before stuffing several goods into a knarr and escaping the city.

Of course, our first suspicion was AD- and after falsifying a conversation with Frost (Who happened to know exactly who she was, have her kinned, and even had the same 'story' of her trying to join AD for some reason), my indictment was placed on AD. this was soon confirmed after tracking scents to their vault location.

Why yes, how we were looking forward to a genuine fight with another city- we would never stoop as low as to enter with spies to scratch at the inside of a city's structure, but it seems that AD has no limits upon their own lies either. And to think of them as warriors is foolish; I took several steps to avoid conflict with them- but they followed up with lies, demands of tribute and subterfuge- They parade themselves as heroes when in reality they are nothing more than the inborn criminals of this world.

And yet, even with those who have fallen to rest eternally in the upper echelons of Helheim- and to those who support the actions of this hellbent city to rot in Náströnd; we are injured, and we lick our wounds, but we will never be defeated.

Such is life is the hearthlands, and c'este la vie

TL;DR
AD sticks a spy in Niflheim; kills crafting alts, an outlawed char and another one by using a bug.

P.S for anyone interested, here's their vault coords: http://odditown.com/haven/map/#x=-77.74&y=-52.66&zoom=9

Funny how history tends to repeat itself. Sounds like some top quality PvP action happened too.

Before we started the war against your village we wanted to be friendly towards your village, but it seemed like you didn't want friends and decided to hide some Dis affiliated people in your village. After multiple chases on zeler, berthedin they were always running in direction of your village + their sudden appearance in the grid and zeler's + archis past ties with ryleh - we made conclusions that they are being hid in your village. This was quite the opposite to your proclaimed neutrality and being the "justice bringers" in the grid and we concluded that you're lying.

After a while we track loads of scents leading to Nilfheim and that is when we decided to go on full war, you denied to pay the tribute for your commited crimes. We even offered you a peace treaty, but you did not seem interested in it. Your village was no different than any other Dis village. The justice happened and you seem to portray us to be the bad guys ;)

TLDR
archi lies about their neutrality and then hide dis in their village, leave scents all around the grid and deny our peace treaty then gets justice brought to them.

im doing this for the noobsxd
There was a wise soviet conscript that was surrounded by the enemy on the battle of Stalingrad. A mortar shot teared his pants apart causing a big hole in his pants right on his right butt cheek. He felt a glorious cold ass breeze of wind on his butt cheek, like it would be sent by stalin himself, he said - hide your butts

Zeler/Ozzy/Berth hadn't played for months, we accepted them as being our own villagers even if they were friendly with DiS- having people that used to be part of another faction doesn't mean we are necessarily allied with them (And had you never attacked us, we likely would never had been forced to ask them for any help)

The scents you found were dealt with and apologized for + compensation aand bodies/gear returned to the people who were attacked.

We rejected tribute because AD has nothing to do with the situation, has no authority to demand tribute for scents against another village (that has never even spoken to them at that, and a village we apologized to and gave back their things and bodies as well as more)

There was offer of a peace treaty if ozzy/zeler/berthedin left us. I would not kick them out- that would be a horrible decision as any lawspeaker. Disrespecting other villages is one thing, but disrespecting your own villagers is a crime beyond redemption.

When did we ever attack you before you recruited them to the village? We pretty much ignored your village until we found scents around the grid even tho we knew that your village is there months before
