Important announcement: The Shiomi Academy Trading Post will henceforth use the Sevillian Tin Crown as currency. All goods are now bought and sold in Tin Crowns. You can exchange your Augusts for Tin Crowns at the simple exchange rate of 1 August per Tin Crown. Please PM me if the barter stand runs out of Tin Crowns to exchange and I will refill it..
The reason for this change is twofold:
- First, it is to promote trade. Having a central currency allows for much easier trading; you could, for example, sell something at the Shiomi Academy Trading Post to buy something at the Sevillian Community Market, or vice versa. This also gives the coin more inherent worth; whereas the August could only be traded in at the Shiomi Academy Trading Post, the Tin Crown has further uses.
- Secondly, it is to ensure the value of the currency traded at the Shiomi Academy Trading Post. The value of the August depended solely on what was offered at the Shiomi Academy Trading Post. This would mean that if something were to happen to the Trading Post, or if I became less active and there were less interesting goods being sold at the Trading Post, the currency would become worthless. If I were to stop playing, the August would suddenly lose all value, and you in practice would not have received anything in return for selling to the Trading Post. Using the more general Tin Crowns as currency solves this problem; even if I were to close the Shiomi Academy Trading Post tomorrow, you would still have gotten value out of the things you've sold there.
Please do note that only Tin Crowns are accepted. Iron Crowns will have to be exchanged for Tin Crowns elsewhere beforehand.
Also, I have raised the price of Salt to 70 and 90 Tin Crowns for q10 and q22, respectively. This is due to high demand for Salt and because Sevillian Black Emporium is buying them for 100 Tin Crowns. (Yes, there is profit to be made here if you're willing to make the trip.) I have also temporarily stopped buying Steel to make sure I have enough Tin Crowns left to exchange for all Augusts that may still be in circulation.
