It'll never happen.

just a reminder about the rules:
  • Stop requesting character wipes or map resets. They will only ever be introduced alongside major developments and there are no signs of those developments happening anytime soon. You have no say in the matter.

consider this your warning.

Much of it is related to the fact that the hard drives are now RAID-1'd to prevent data loss from disk crashes. In world 3, I had the game data on a separate drive, which helped immensely, but was of course far more vulnerable, and there was in face a nuke situation caused by it. You can probably find it somewhere around the Announcements forum.

The guys who are running the Salem server seem to have some far better I/O setup, actually. I'd like to know what they have done.

I shan't swear on it, but I'm pretty sure anyone can.

@Loftar

LatencyTOP seems to be a good idea ( not that i know much about as my Debian/Linux times are nearly 10 years ago but from that time i know Dirk and Arjan for doing good stuff)

Because that would require me to speak with humans. ^^

Only posting on this thread because I see Loftar is fairly active in it at the moment.

Wanted to say thanks for the great game. Love PERMIDEATH, love the SANDBOX, love the code for DIMINISHING RETURNS... I completely enjoy the hell out of this game sir. I'm not a big fan of 3D and have no interest in the Salem development, but if you decide to tie future H&H development to some form of financial contribution from the players, I think you'd find some support here. I can only speak for myself though.

Also, so this thread is somewhat appropriate for the topic at hand, any chance of posting an estimate for the server reboot?

Thanks... for everything.
