which is why I imagine J&L have been trying to keep hype and press to a minimum about the project until it's in a state that people are likely to enjoy. Players and testers are nice to have and essential to working out the kinks, but you don't want a flood of people as the bulk of them won't enjoy a game that's too rough.

Pretty much this. New Haven isn't much of a game yet, and we don't want to build up too much buzz and excitement before we can deliver more on it, quite simply. The game is making progress!
