Pathfinding is still a bit wonky. If you initiate combat but do not move, the creature's pathfinding will not turn on. Moving triggers it to begin again. Arrow-sploiting is still possible.

Hmm, unless you are a really good archer, and have a bunch of arrows, it should still be a challenge.

Well, yeah. That's why they disabled bear LP in the first place, because people were just spamming them with arrows for free massive LP gains at no danger.

Yeah, but you used to be able to fire all your arrows, get the bear stuck behind a different object, then pick your arrows up.

Has marksmanship been overhauled yet? i.e. does perception boost it?
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Yeah, though I don't think the ranger bow existed back then. I have to agree though, killing a bear in such a fashion will probably be hard. You'll need probably an entire inventoryful of quivers. Having someone bring you more arrows is no longer an option at least.

According to some quick math, (not sure what damage of ranger bow + bone arrows is, I've heard it's 28 so using that), you'd do 10k damage, at a 0% miss rate. Obviously the damage will be much lower if you miss a lot.

And no, I don't think marksmanship gets bonus damage yet. There's so few people actually using it anymore ever since bear lp got nerfed.

That's... A crying shame. I've been banking on Marksmanship not-sucking. Ah, well, wasn't a hard guess to make. I should also note that I'm quite capable of killing a bear in just over a single quiver (unless they've gotten their HP buffed), and that's with full Peaceful. I also see the Ranger shirt's layering has been fixed, though I kind of liked it being above stuff. Ah, well.

Just had my first bear walk right up to my walled camp - they're still not smart enough to tear down walls, eh-heh-heh-heh. Anyway, glad to see we've finally got pathfinding. Any word on if Marksmanship's gonna get any sort of overhaul?

I've noticed a couple new things on the "character profile" page (at least I've never noticed them before): "direct ancestor" and "age".

There are some situations that the animals cannot handle. They can't knock stuff down, and they are a bit at a loss if they can't (for some reason) trace a path to their target. They still need to get a bit smarter, but the pathfinding they do perform now is enough of a step forward to make me want to cry. Everyone sacrifice a bull in Loftar's honor.

And, yes, ranger's shirt was fixed, and there have been some small updates to the account page (though that happened a while ago).
