I'm going to make an unpopular suggestion: how about setting up an user limit?

Whould that fix server overload problems?

yes, but with that would come a problum, not everyone can play when the server is active,
this could also be fixed by setting up multiple servers, but because of the way the game is set up, more servers would ruin in in my opinion
i really need to find a good signature

Here is a popular counter-suggestion. How about not posting before you know what you are talking about?

The reason for the "crash" is clearly stated in loftars original post. Has nothing to do with the number of users online.

loftar: Might be wise to not start the server until you've sorted the corrupt village situation... otherwise there is going to be a lot of village takeovers and great deal of tears spilled in the coming hours...

The overload wasn't caused by the actual number of users. What actually caused Apache to eat memory, I'll probably never know.

Unfortunately, there isn't a lot I can do to "sort" it. The files are gone.

I don't get it ...

There are already few people playing this game ( compared to the size of the gameworld ), scattering the population on multiple servers whould kill it.

Not this particular crash, but it has been a problem in the past.

I actually noticed something... Loftar, is there a chance you're saying the crashes were caused by you or by other problems just because you don't want to dissapoint the people and erm... Crush their hopes saying the new server wasn't good or something? Lol.

Well I wasn't so lucky than others, I lost everything I found and accomplished this morning before the server crashed.
